WHEN CAN MY COVERAGE START?
It is always best to ask us about effective date options, but I
will give you a brief outline of the
process for a couple of companies.
I will illustrate Blue Cross guidelines for requested effective
dates. Please note that requesting an
effective date does not guarantee coverage.
The effective date must be after the
signature date but not greater than 75
days from the signature date. Or if indicated, Blue
Cross can assign an effective date the
first day after Blue Cross approval.
The online Blue Cross Tonik program provides for the option of
being insured if approved the next day
after enrollment, based on approval.
This is a fantastic option considering
you can download a temporary ID card
the same day.
There are also some temporary plans that allow next day coverage
based on approval. Most insurance companies
outline their requested effective date option on the application.
